A Taste Of Zanzibar - 6 Days 5nights

A complete picture of Zanzibar: A 6-days stay combining the island’s paradise beaches with the most famous sites and tours.

Day 1: Arrival at Zanzibar Airport

Meet your guide for a short briefing and transfer to Stone Town. You will be taken along many of the town's narrow streets where you can get a feeling for the old colonial & Arabic architecture, that are so prevalent throughout. You will visit landmarks such as the old fort, the House of Wonders, the fish market and the former slave market site where your guide will tell you the history of slave trade in Zanzibar. After the tour there is an opportunity for guests to do some shopping in their own time. Overnight in your town hotel based on Bed & Breakfast

Day 2: Spice plantation

After breakfast your guide will meet you for a historical walking tour through Stone Town. Afterwards guide and driver takes you to a spice plantation, to discover the richness of Zanzibar’s spices and fruits, many of them used for medical purposes. A selection of what you see during the tour, you will taste during a home-made local lunch. In the afternoon your will drive to your beach hotel for total relax. Dinner and overnight are included.

Day 3: Prison Island

A relaxing day out on the Indian Ocean, on a small Island to the west of Stone Town, famous for it's giant tortoises and beautiful peacocks. Changuu, which is the local name of this little Island, Prison Island: this island has a lot of history, it was a private place of detention for slaves in 1883 when a jail was built on the island, thus the name "Prison Island". The jail was never used and the ruin can still be seen. The island has become a small tourist resort, where you can relax on the beach and view Stone Town. You can also see the famous giant tortoises. (Swimming and snorkeling - equipment included in price - are also possible) Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Kizimkazi Dolphin Tour

An early start brings you to the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village, to view the amazing bottle-nosed and Humpback dolphins, which are sighted during a short boat trip from the village. Kizimkazi is also the site with the oldest mosque of East Africa, dating of the 12th century. After a local Swahili lunch the tour proceeds to Jozani Forest, with the unique Red Colobus monkeys and mysterious mangroves. Mid-afternoon you return to your resort for relaxing, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Departure to the Aiport

Depending on the departure of your flight, you will be transferred to the airport for your journey home or onwards.
